Mom’s Weekend Getaway to Palm Springs CA

Okay mama, if you haven’t planned a getaway weekend with your best mom friends, this is your sign to do so! You don’t have to take a plane to Los Cabos Mexico, to have a good time. I’m fortunate to call Los Angeles my home which means we have plenty of local destinations to pick from. This past summer we opted for Palm Springs, CA. We were looking to leave the crowds behind, but not the style and glam. This time we opted for a house rental instead of a resort or hotel booking. After a quick stop at Trader Joes for food, snacks, and alcohol we drove off to our new home for a weekend full of girl time and relaxation.

Our Home Away from Home

We booked the cutest Airbnb just outside of Palm Springs with the most Instagram worthy décor! Any pink loving blogger would love to spend a weekend at The Palm Baum House. The house is so chic and inviting! We felt right at home the minute we opened the door. Each room was brightly decorated with pink and green palm leaves. The living room was a burst of summer and pink with the cutest flamingo wallpaper. When we weren’t relaxing or having a midday nap we opted for the pool. We spent a majority of our time lounging by the sparkling pink pool! Perfect for those hot summer days in this Southern California desert!

At Home Massage Therapy

We treated ourselves to a lovely at home massage session. Our lovely masseuse brought the spa directly to us. We each enjoyed a dip in the pool and drank champagne while waiting for our massage. It was the most relaxing hour I have ever experienced. Am I being dramatic, maybe. But it was my first real massage and it was amazing. If you haven’t had a massage from a professional ever, believe me when I tell you that it is life changing! Just make sure you’re drinking plenty of water before and after your massage.

Downtown

We didn’t hit the town as much as we’d like, but it was peak pandemonium so we played lightly. We strolled through the beautiful downtown during the day and night. During the day we visited a couple of different antique shops. Because, who goes to Palm Springs and skips antiquing! We also visited a couple of different art galleries with the coolest mid century modern art pieces.

Eat

We had a couple of brunch places in mind, but decided to try out this very popular restaurant, Cheeky’s. I have never waited so long to be seated, 1.5 hours to be exact, but I had to see what the fuss was about. When we finally made it I ordered the custard cheesy scrambled eggs with sausage and bacon and deb’s cheddar scone. And it was worth every minute we waited on that bench. It was delicious! Every now and then I find myself daydreaming of the creamy goodness that were those custard cheesy eggs. Definitely plan on going back one day.

Drinks

When we planned this getaway we had our hearts set on visiting a Tiki Bar! Did we wear coordinating outfits to grab cocktails? Yes we did! We decided to try out Tonga Hut, located in the heart of Downtown Palm Springs. It’s such a cool lounge, unfortunately we missed the restaurant hours, so we just headed up to the bar. Even better! They had an appetizer menu so we ordered apps to accompany our drinks and everything was just perfect.  I’ve been thinking hard trying to remember what drinks I had exactly, but I do not recall. I think it might have had something to do with Zombies and tequila. If I ever remember I’ll let you know.

Conclusion

I highly recommend you and your girlfriends plan a weekend getaway like this. Especially if you’re married with kids. It is so easy to get consumed by life and work that we never really give ourselves the chance to completely relax. Being away from home even if just for one short weekend will give you a chance to reboot. You won’t have to think about chores, meals, or bed time. You truly just have to worry about keeping yourself fed, hydrated, and relaxed.
