Four Beautiful Wineries You Should Visit in Temecula Wine Country
If you’re a Southern California native, like me, you know how easy it is to forget or dismiss all the wonderful places that surround us. We get so caught up in our daily lives that we forget to take a minute to truly appreciate all that So-Cal has to offer. Like Temecula’s wine country. Temecula is home to nearly 50 wineries spread across its beautiful rolling hills and sprawling valleys. In the last year, I had the pleasure to visit four different wineries, and I am going to share them with you in this blog post. Here are four vineyards you should visit in Temecula Wine Country, CA.
Altisima Winery
Altisima Winery is located about 20 minutes outside of Temecula. Altisima is a Spanish winery with a modern touch. Not only was the wine delicious, but it had incredible views of the surrounding vineyards and rolling hills of Temecula. The tasting room is beautiful, it is rustic, but modern with a relaxing atmosphere. You can enjoy live music and take in the beautiful views while sipping on a refreshing rose or full bodied red wine. And if you’re not feeling wine you can always opt for their refreshing sangrias, we had the peach and berry and they were both very tasty.
The Restaurant
The restaurant at Altisima, Gaspar’s Restaurant, was also quite delightful! They had some traditional Spanish foods like Jamon Serrano, and Patatas Bravas. Las Patatas Bravas were a bit different, but I do recommend the Jamon Serrano, it was nice and buttery, as it should be. They also had a Burrata appetizer that was just delicious *chefs kiss! I will definitely be ordering that again.
Callaway Vineyard & Winery
This winery was located atop Temecula’s hills and is surrounded with breathtaking views. The grounds are stunning. The tasting room at Callaway Winery has more of a modern look with a very sophisticated atmosphere. You’re also able to take a stroll down the vineyard if you’d like as it is easily accessible from the outdoor patio areas. Their wine selection is very palatable. We visited during summer, so I opted for their chilled sparkling wine & their sparkling Bella Blanc & Rose were delightful. Highly recommend these two if you like a lighter wine.
Mount Palomar Winery
Mount Palomar sits on 315 gorgeous acres of land in Temecula Wine Country. Mount Palomar Winery is one of the older wineries in the area, opened in 1969, and the property is beautiful. You can enjoy wine tasting in their tasting cave or enjoy a meal in the Annata Bistro. We enjoyed a nice dinner and bottle of wine while listening to the band play classic rock music. Highly recommend it if you’re looking for a more upbeat atmosphere.
Somerset Vineyard & Winery
Last but definitely not least, Somerset Vineyard & Winery. This was my favorite winery and I can’t wait to go back! The wine here was so flavorful. Their aging process is quite peculiar which is what I assume makes their wines so delectable. They age their wines in terracotta amphorae which is an ancient process that is supposed to pull out acidity, producing a very smooth and easy to drink wine.
The property is stunning and the atmosphere is both relaxing and upbeat. You can enjoy delicious wines while playing lawn games and listening to live music on the outdoor patio. Oh! And, bonus points for Somerset, this winery is family friendly! You can take the whole family to enjoy the views while you and your spouse sip on exquisite wines.
I hope you enjoy your visit to Temecula Wine Country! Please share any winery recommendations you may have for me, I’d love to visit more wineries and vineyards in the area soon! Reach out in comments or message me on social media.
