The Best Time to Shop for Halloween Decorations
Hi there ghouls and boys! We are officially in July, which means Halloween is right around the corner! Itโs time to start planning our Halloween costumes and my personal favorite activity, add to my collection of Halloween decorations!! But when is the best time to start shopping for Halloween decor? The short answer is, now. Now is the time to get your spook on!
Why You Should Start Shopping for Halloween in September
There are a couple reasons why you should shop for Halloween as soon as the back to school items are cleared out.
Reason Number One:
To make sure you get your hands on new and fresh decorations! The newest and best halloween decorations are always the first to go, and I hate missing out on beautiful additions! So make sure to check into stores regularly to see if there are any pieces you really really love.
Reason Number Two:
Deals! I love Halloween decor, but something I love more is a bargain! And I know you do too! One thing to know is that when Halloween inventory rolls out the main goal of retail stores is to sell the product as soon as possible. Why? Well, because they have to make room for the biggest holiday of the year, Christmas. This is especially true with stores like Michaels & Joannes.
Second Best Time to Shop But With Even Better Deals
So hereโs the thing about waiting until after the holiday. There is a very bright side, but also a bit of a bummer. So the great thing about shopping at the end of season is you will find some pretty cool items at super discounted prices. Iโm talking 50% to 75% off halloween decor!
However, the downside of shopping at the end of the season is that youโll have limited options. You will likely still find some really good pieces. But I highly advise you that if you see a piece you totally fell in love with, buy it. Donโt leave it to chance, because chances are Iโm gonna find that halloween decoration and bring it home !๐
My Favorite Places to Shop for Halloween Decor
I have the tendency to categorize the way I shop. What I mean by that is, that I am very aware of the intention of my shopping trips. Am I looking for trending statement pieces, filler decor, bargain finds, outdoor halloween decor, or quality timeless pieces. These are my favorite places to shop based on these intentions:
For Halloween Decor on a Budget
When I was looking to get the most bang for my buck I used to go to the 99 Cent Only Store. I have found some of the best hidden gems and great filler pieces at the 99 Cent Only Store, not only Halloween, but other holidays as well. They had some unique pieces and the perfect starting points for incredible DIY projects. I have found potion bottles to add to my decor, globes, crystal balls, and my favorite find were the stackable pumpkins. I know the only 99 cent strores closed most of their locations in 2024, but Dollar Tree has a similar set for $5. Here is the link to a similar set of the stackable pumpkins from Dollar Tree. Theyโre plastic, and not heavy at all, so I place little sand bags in the middle one to ensure they donโt fall over. For $10 bucks a stack of pumpkins, this was one of my favorite deals!
For Trendy Statement Pieces for My Halloween Home Decor
You guessed it, I’m going to Target! Last year I found some of my favorite halloween home decor pieces at Target. They usually have some fun statement pieces and that are also pretty good quality. Iโve reused a couple of their items for years and they’re still going strong, so pretty budget friendly and fabulous! I bought these venus fly traps last year and added the fun purple one this year.ย
When Iโm Looking to Add Quality & Timeless Halloween Pieces
Michaleโs Stores is also one of my favorite places to shop for halloween decor. They have great pieces and discounts throughout the season. I have found some of my favorite pieces here. This year’s cool find were these cool bats I have hanging by my Kitchen window.
These are some of the best times and places to shop for halloween decor. You can also check out places like Etsy for one of a kind handmade goods if youโre looking for a true gem.
You can also find great pieces at HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, etc. And remember, shop early so you donโt miss out on the best pieces of the spooky season. And remember to check back after Halloween passes to score great deals!
Have a fabulous shopping trip, spooky babes!
