Four Beautiful Cities to Visit in Spain
So, last April Marty and I decided to take a vacation. Alone, with no kids. It was like the honeymoon we never had. And let me tell you, this vacation was amazing! I don’t know how I missed sharing it with you guys.
We had not spent time alone for years, let alone a whole week. It was nice spending a week with nothing to worry about besides what restaurant we were going to visit next. It was like we were dating all over again. Reminding ourselves why we fell in love with each other in the first place. Sounds cheesy and all, but I think it helped us reconnect and keep our fire burning.
Barcelona
Before you start packing all your favorite party outfits make sure that you take comfy walking shoes. Sure their night life is said to be amazing, but there is so much more to Spain than partying.
If you’re traveling with babies, make sure you have a good stroller or comfortable carrier. The streets are all cobble stone or brick, so pushing a crappy stroller through them would suck. If you’re in Barcelona, don’t worry about packing snacks. There will be food literally everywhere.
We like history, so some of the places that we visited were:
Girona
Baga
We also made a quick stop in Axe Les Thermes in France. This was a small French village on the boarder of Spain and France. They are the home to these natural hot springs. They are believed to have healing properties, though I didn’t get to enjoy them long enough to find out, we did find them very relaxing.
& Monsterrat
These places were filled with history and the ancient building were something straight out of Game of Thrones. Really, they did a lot of filming in the city of Girona. Baga, was this really cool medieval times town, it was pretty mesmerizing seeing all the things they were able to build without the technology and machinery we have today.
Costa Brava.
This city is what my idea of paradise is. It is so beautiful out there. This was the first time I had seen crystal clear waters and they were breathtaking. I can’t wait to go back on late spring with the girls.
Did I mention the food and the drinks? Oh my goodness, how could I forget. The food was AMAZING. I had something so simple I believe it was fried cod with a drizzle of honey over it, but it was so good. The paella was beyond what I ever expected it was an explosion of flavors. Obviously, we drank sangria. A lot of it. It was delicious. We also tried sangria de cava and if you like your bubbly’s like me this is for you.
Hopefully someday in the near future we get to take this trip again, but with our daughters and a longer stay. They would love it!
So if you’ve been thinking about traveling to a new country, I’d add Spain to the list.
