Did You Know Families in LA Can Visit LACMA for Free? Here’s How
We live in one of the most expensive counties in the country, Los Angeles. And as a middle class family of five, we’re always looking for fun and affordable activities to do together. Luckily, there is so much to do all over LA county that you really can’t get bored!
Even better is the many fun and free activities you can find throughout the county. Free activities like the one I am going to fill you in on today. In this blog you’ll learn just how you can visit the Los Angeles County Museum of Arts for free.
Get Free LACMA Admission Through Nexgen LA
Nexgen LA is a free membership for all kids living in Los Angeles County. The only other requirement is that children registering for this membership must be under the age of 17. Yes, sorry this program is for Angelenos only.
This is not a lifetime membership, but it’s pretty close! This membership is valid until your child’s 18th birthday! And there is no need to renew, ever! However, if you happen to lose your badge, you will have to request a new one. Learned that by experience a couple weekends ago.
The Membership Perks
Your Nexgen membership guarantees free entrance for the child registered and one adult. This works perfectly for my family of 5 so we can all enter the museum for free for the next 10 years. How cool is that!
Look Out for Games & Activities
An extra perk to this amazing program is that Nexgen and LACMA host kid friendly activities outside of the museum! Last week they had tables set outside along the side of the museum where the giant boulder sits. They were hosting a free painting workshop for kids. So make sure you ask if there are any fun activities on the day of your visit.
How do you sign up?
It’s super simple! You can actually do it on site, which is what we did. When you arrive at the museum, past the iconic street lamps, you will see a food court. Within that foodcourt you should run into a white and orange table with signage for Nexgen LA. They’ll ask you some basic questions, names, address, and that’s pretty much it. They’ll give you your lanyards, and that’s it, your child has a membership for all of their childhood!
Extra Tip:
When you get your lanyard, you will still have to go to the ticket booth to get your admission to the museum. We tried to use our lanyards to enter, but had to go back to do this, so I’m just trying to save you the trip.
I hope you and your families take advantage of this wonderful free program. Don’t forget to subscribe to find fun family friendly activities to do in Socal!
