Best Books to Help Your Child Learn to Read.
Our little Olivia has always been eager to learn. So eager she crawled early, walked early, talked early, and even learned to read early. At 5 years old my little Olivia learned to read. Since she and her sister were babies, her dad and I have tried to read books to them every night. When Olivia was in Transitional Kindergarten we started to encourage her to follow along as we read. We read a lot of books!
My daughter’s TK teacher suggested we start reading repetitive short sentence books, especially rhyming books for her to start reading. Fun books from authors like Dr. Seuss helped her associate the letters to the sounds they make.
The very first book she was able to read on her own was Hop on Pop. Below is a list of our go to books to help our little kindergartners with early learning.
Hop on Pop
Mr. Brown Can Moo
There’s a Wocket in my Pocket!
The Foot Book
PUG by Ethan Long
Everyone Poops by Taro Gomi
And I love holiday books so here are two of our favorites.
Haunted House by Roger Priddy
My Snow Globe by Megan E. Bryant
There you are a short list of perfect book for early learning. Repetitive books with fun rhymes and songs are the best when teaching your young children to read. I could add so many books to this post, but it would be very long. I’ll work on a longer list for you guys soon.
