3 Ideas to Celebrate Halloween Safe at Home

It is mid-September and we are all probably wondering the same thing. Is Halloween cancelled? Here in Los Angeles County it is not recommended that we participate in trick-or-treating or trunk-or-treating activities. And it looks like we will have to come up with ideas to celebrate Halloween safe at home this year.

I know, what a bummer. But we all kind of saw that coming. I know I did, and to be honest I was not at all excited about taking my kids trick-or-treating in the middle of a pandemic.

So I thought about ways to celebrate Halloween safely without having to cancel something else. Like summer, R.I.P summer 2020. Here are 3 ideas to celebrate Halloween safe at home this year.

Halloween Treat Pails

I picked up little candy pails from Dollar Tree to fill up with goodies. Same concept as Easter Baskets, but for Halloween. This would keep the holiday special and give the kids some excitement.

Candles are from Target.

Halloween Candy & Goody Hunt

We came up with the idea to do a goodie hunt at night. Just like an Easter Egg Hunt, but spookified.  I have some Easter Eggs stored away and will paint them and spookify them with some googly eyes and pipe cleaners for Halloween. Just fill them up with some spooky candies or toys. (Amazon has them)Hide them away around the outside or inside of your home. For the kids to find them in the dark hide them away with a glow stick so they can easily spot them. You can also use glow in the dark paint or even battery-operated tea lights.

We also plan on giving the kids flashlights to go on their hunt. Kids love flashlights so it would just make the hunt even more fun for them.

Spooky Movie Marathon

This is the simplest way to spend the holiday without completely canceling the fun. Make a few spooky themed treats, get some popcorn, and watch all your favorite spooky movies or shows. You can gift your child the Halloween Pail with treats and activities to do throughout the day. For a list of spooky movies you can watch with your children don’t forget to check back on Monday for my new post.
